District X Community 'PEP' Gardens... Growing Green... Growing Together
West Palm Beach Garden Club

       The Garden Club
      of Indian River County
     Allamanda Circle

From seed... to greenhouse... to garden...to kitchen.
RIVERA BEACH FIRE FIGHTERS
This wonderful community garden located next to a firehouse was
developed by the West Palm Beach Garden Club headed by President, Sandy Arlund with the help and cooperation of Rivera Beach Fire Dept.; local artists Ann Sheehy-Moritz, Pat David-Parry, and Carrie Kelly as well as MAMA (Mothers Against Murders Association)
They planted papayas; exotic strawberry trees; 42 collard greens; various pepper tomato plants; herbs and other plants.
It was a labor of love as everyone 'dug' in, planted, and painted the mural. WPGC donated plants for each child to take home, and the firefighters have promised to keep everything watered.

This garden doesn't have fire ants, but FIREMEN! Well done!
ARC (Abilities Resource Center)
'Inspiration' Community Therapy Garden
This  community garden  is being 'spear-headed' by Joan Black, District X Chairman of  Community PEP Gardening, and a member of Allamanda Circle of the GCIRC. Allamlanda  will soon be joined by many other of the GCIRC Circles who are committing to the planting of  various areas of the garden as well.  Located on the ARC property  in Vero Beach, it is gradually being turned into not only a vegetable, herb, and flower garden, but a place to cultivate the human spirit for approximately 150 disabled adults.
Grants and underwriting have been provided for seeds,  topsoil, two pergolas, raised planting beds, and repair of the existing greenhouse that was devastated by past hurricanes. Clients have been harvesting their herbs and vegetables (that were all propogated from seed) and have been using them in their kitchen. For additiona info about the garden go to the In the Spotlight page. Work days are being set up for the summer months.

Spring is in the air with the installation of New Officers in many of our District X Garden Clubs and Circles.

With Draper's and Damon's of Stuart providing the sophisticated ensembles, and Paul of The Salon in Pt. Gardenfest! 2008 presented by the Garden Club of Indian River County - February 2-3, 2008
It was a Bloomin' Great Day for the 7th Annual Gardenfest! presented by the GCIRC at Riverside Park in Vero Beach. This annual event is organized each year as a 'gift' to the community, and  takes place under the majestic oaks in Riverside Park.  Over 20,000 people entered the white arbor to look, buy, learn, have lunch,  participate in workshops and take chances of some awesome raffle prizes. It was especially memorable since it marked the 80th Birthday of the founding of the GCIRC.
